DNA Collection Center performs paternity tests and other DNA tests using a Chain of Custody Documentation Process to ensure results will be legally defensible, in case the results will be used as proof in courts and other government agencies. This process proves and satisfies the following legal requirements:
· Samples are collected by an impartial third party
· The individuals tested are positively identified with a government-issued ID, and they are
photographed for the records
· The samples are carefully tracked and matched to each test participant throughout the
entire DNA testing process
When you come to the sample collection appointment, you will be asked to do the following to meet the Chain of Custody requirements:
· Present government-issued identification for the adults (or driver’s license/passport)
· Present a form of identification for minors, such as a birth certificate
· Be photographed
· Complete a Client Identification and Consent Form and Witness Declaration Form
Note: If the mother is not being tested, the alleged father/mother or guardian must produce documents proving legal guardianship for the minor child (under 18 years old) a copy of any of the following documents must be provided:
• Court order for the test or
• Court documents indicating the alleged father/mother or guardian has custody or
• Birth certificate of the child with the alleged father’s name listed as the father.
In case you do not present the above mentioned documents, we will not perform the DNA sampling.
